Our practice includes drafting and reviewing employment contracts, advising on workplace rights and obligations, and providing guidance on termination, severance, and wrongful dismissal claims. Termination of employment

  • We advise both employers and employees on employment transitions, including severance packages, terminations for cause, and wrongful dismissal matters.
  • Our litigation experience includes representing clients in employment disputes before the BC Supreme Court and in adjudications under the Canada Labour Code. We combine strategic advice with strong advocacy to achieve effective outcomes in complex workplace matters.

Human Rights Claims

  • We have acted for employers to defend claims under the provincial Human Rights Code and the federal Canadian Human Rights Act. We have successfully settled claims through mediations and negotiations.

Employment contracts

  • We have drafted employment contracts, for executives and other employees, and we have advised on terms dealing with compensation, termination, benefits, and employment duties.
  • Independent contractors’ agreements: We have drafted agreements for consultants, professional companies, trades companies, and entrepreneurial individuals.

Workplace investigations

  • We have guided employers through workplace investigations—starting with how to handle the complaint, a review of the employers’ policies, and the decision if to hire an independent investigator. We then advise on the process of interviewing witnesses, disclosing records, and making reports. Meanwhile, we help ensure that the employers meet their obligations under provincial or federal legislation.
